Quick answer

  • RDAEL has CySEC MiCA authorisation passported to Ireland as listed on 5 November 2026.
  • Revolut Bank UAB is separate from the crypto provider. Crypto has no DGS or ICS cover.
  • Fees depend on plan, location and previous 30-day trading volume. Check the app confirmation.

Yes, you can buy and sell crypto in Ireland through Revolut. As listed on 5 November 2026, crypto services for EEA customers who accept the relevant terms come from Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd (RDAEL), a CySEC MiCA-authorised firm passported to Ireland. Authorisation does not protect you from losses: crypto is high risk, and you could lose all the money you put in.

Risk warning: Crypto-assets such as bitcoin are high risk and speculative. Their value can go down as well as up, sometimes sharply, and you could lose all the money you put in. Past performance doesn't necessarily give a guide to the future. Some crypto products and services are unregulated, and even under MiCA crypto is not covered by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme or the Investor Compensation Scheme. Crypto isn't suitable for everyone, so only use money you can afford to lose.

Can you use Revolut crypto in Ireland?

Revolut's Ireland help describes buying and selling crypto inside the app. Ireland also appears among the countries notified for RDAEL in ESMA's interim MiCA register (country code IE), as listed on 5 November 2026.

Open the Crypto section and read the terms attached to your own account. The assets available to you are shown in the app. The source pages for this guide do not give a verified token count or a fixed account limit, so check those details before you decide.

Which Revolut company provides crypto?

The company named in your crypto terms matters. Revolut's Ireland help, as listed on 5 November 2026, says cryptocurrency products come from either RDAEL or Revolut Ltd. Which one applies depends on whether you accepted RDAEL's terms when you opened a crypto account or during the EEA migration.

CompanyRegulatory positionRole here
Revolut Digital Assets Europe LtdCySEC CASP under MiCAEEA crypto provider after RDAEL terms are accepted
Revolut LtdFCA electronic money authorisation and UK crypto registrationPrevious provider named in the EEA migration
Revolut Bank UABBank of Lithuania and ECB; Central Bank of Ireland for consumer protection rulesSeparate banking entity

Revolut says it is migrating EEA crypto customers from Revolut Ltd to RDAEL to comply with MiCA. RDAEL was formerly called RT Digital Securities Cyprus Ltd. Migration asks you to answer economic profile questions and accept new terms.

According to that migration page as listed on 5 November 2026, the move does not change access to the Revolut app, crypto products, or fees and charges. That statement is about the migration itself. Still check the charge shown when you make a transaction.

The same page's footer names Revolut Bank UAB and its banking regulators. Keep that separate from your crypto agreement. A banking authorisation does not turn a crypto holding into a bank deposit, and it does not give crypto Deposit Guarantee Scheme cover.

How Revolut crypto is regulated for Irish users

ESMA's interim register, downloaded on 5 November 2026, records Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd as a CySEC-authorised crypto-asset service provider. The authorisation date is 20 October 2025. Ireland is included in the passported or notified countries.

Revolut's Ireland help identifies the Cyprus company as number HE430310 and gives CySEC Licence No. 001/2025. That licence number comes from Revolut's help page, not from the ESMA CSV. ESMA writes parentheses around "Europe" in the legal name; Revolut's help usually writes the name without them. Match the LEI and company number when you check.

The ESMA row lists these authorised services:

  • Custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients
  • Placing of crypto-assets
  • Exchange of crypto-assets for funds
  • Exchange of crypto-assets for other crypto-assets
  • Operation of a trading platform for crypto-assets
  • Transfer services for crypto-assets on behalf of clients

That is the registered scope of authorisation. It is not a catalogue of every product or token your account can use. Check the app for what is actually available to you.

How to check the provider yourself

Open ESMA's MiCA page and register and find Revolut Digital Assets (Europe) Ltd. Match the legal name and CySEC as the competent authority. Then check the listed services and the IE entry. The LEI on the register is 549300ET4IUR6RCZOL84, which helps separate the legal entity from the brand.

The register also gives a Limassol address at Soho Embassy, Omonoias 13, 3052. Compare those company details with your crypto terms. Searching only for the word "Revolut" leaves the entity question open.

You can also use the Central Bank of Ireland registers and its MiCA information page. RDAEL's authorisation comes from CySEC, with passporting that includes Ireland. It is not a Central Bank of Ireland CASP authorisation for this firm.

Our MiCA guide for Ireland explains the wider framework. MiCA authorisation does not give Deposit Guarantee Scheme or Investor Compensation Scheme cover for crypto, and a register entry cannot stop a fall in value.

Using crypto in the Revolut app

Revolut's Ireland help points you to Crypto, then Trade. From there you choose Buy or Sell. Use the app to see available assets and review the transaction before you submit it. Those are high-level steps, not a claim that every account has every product.

Read the crypto terms to see which company supplies the service, and read the order confirmation for the fee on that trade. If migration questions or new terms are waiting, resolve those before relying on an older agreement.

Keep records as you go. Selling is not the only activity that can matter for Irish tax, so a purchase note alone will not answer every filing question. The tax section below links to the fuller guides.

Revolut crypto fees: what the pages say

Revolut describes tiered crypto pricing based on your plan, your location and your trading volume over the previous 30 days, as listed on 5 November 2026. Fees appear on the order confirmation screen before you submit a trade.

Ireland marketing descriptions list Standard and Plus fees as low as 0.49%, Premium and Metal as low as 0.29%, and Ultra as low as 0%. Those are advertised minimums tied to plan families and volume tiers. They are not a quote for your next order.

The full Ireland fee grid was not independently re-fetched on 5 November 2026 because the pricing page returned a security check. The minimums above come from Revolut page descriptions captured the same day. Do not fill in missing volume bands from the advertised lows.

Open Fees or Exchange fee in the app to see your current tier. Then read the confirmation for the trade you intend to make. When you compare providers, use the charge that applies to you rather than the lowest marketing line. Our Coinbase Ireland guide covers another provider's entity and fee wording.

Some activity does not count towards tiered volume. Revolut's descriptions exclude stablecoin-to-fiat trades and stablecoin-to-stablecoin trades. They also leave out commodities-to-crypto trades, withdrawals and deposits, plus staking, rewards, cashback and spare change. Do not assume every movement lifts the volume used for your tier.

Withdrawals can include a Revolut service fee plus a network fee, shown before confirmation. Exact Ireland withdrawal amounts were not independently re-fetched, so no euro amount is quoted here. Review the withdrawal screen separately from a buy or sell preview. If you plan to move crypto into self-custody, read our wallets guide as well.

Tax on Revolut crypto trades in Ireland

Selling, swapping or spending crypto can be a disposal for Irish tax. Keep records. Activity that amounts to a trade can fall under income tax instead of Capital Gains Tax (CGT).

Revenue's calculation page, published on 7 October 2026 and read on 5 November 2026, gives a 31% CGT rate for most gains. The tax facts used here distinguish disposals on or after 7 October 2026 at 31% from disposals between 6 December 2012 and 6 October 2026 at 33%. An individual's annual personal exemption is €1,270.

If you dispose of crypto between January and November, pay any CGT by 15 December. December disposals are paid by 31 January the following year, and the return is due by 31 October of the year after the disposal. See crypto tax in Ireland and reporting crypto to Revenue for the steps.

Under DAC8, providers collect user and transaction information from 1 January 2026. First reports covering 2026 are due to Revenue by 31 May 2027. Our DAC8 reporting guide explains those dates. Keep your own records for your tax obligations.

Before you sign up: a short checklist

  1. Read the crypto terms and identify the company providing your account. Check whether you have accepted RDAEL's terms.
  2. Compare the legal entity with ESMA's register, including CySEC and the IE entry. Do not rely on the brand alone.
  3. Check which assets and services your app offers. The registered service list does not answer every availability question.
  4. Review your current fee tier and the order confirmation. Treat advertised minimum rates as minimums, not your personal quote.
  5. Read the withdrawal fee preview if you intend to transfer assets. A trading fee does not describe every possible charge.
  6. Decide how you will keep records for Revenue, and read about crypto scams in Ireland if anyone is pressuring you or promising returns. Crypto has no DGS or ICS cover.

Northern Ireland readers

This page covers the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland readers should use the FCA's cryptoassets information for UK rules. The CySEC authorisation and Irish passporting described here should not be treated as confirmation of a firm's UK position.

Frequently asked questions

Is Revolut crypto available in Ireland?

Yes. Revolut's Ireland help describes buying and selling in the app, and RDAEL's ESMA register entry includes Ireland as listed on 5 November 2026. Check the Crypto section for the assets available to your account.

Is Revolut safe for crypto?

RDAEL has CySEC MiCA authorisation passported to Ireland as listed on 5 November 2026. That status does not guarantee safety or prevent losses. Crypto has no Deposit Guarantee Scheme or Investor Compensation Scheme cover, and you could lose everything you put in.

Does Revolut Bank UAB provide the crypto service?

Revolut's help names RDAEL or Revolut Ltd depending on the terms you accepted. Revolut Bank UAB is a separate banking entity. Read the crypto agreement to identify your provider.

What are Revolut crypto fees in Ireland?

Fees depend on plan, location and previous 30-day trading volume. Advertised minimums do not tell you the charge for a particular order. Check Fees or Exchange fee in the app, then the confirmation screen, before you submit.

Do Revolut crypto trades have Irish tax consequences?

Selling, swapping and spending can be disposals, and trading activity can fall under income tax. The applicable CGT rate depends on the disposal date, with a change on 7 October 2026 in the Revenue facts used here. Keep records and use the linked tax guides for payment and filing details.
