Yes, you can use Coinbase in Ireland. As listed on 30 October 2026, Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. provides crypto services to Irish customers under its Luxembourg MiCA authorisation. Coinbase Ireland Limited provides e-money services. Authorisation doesn't protect you from losses: crypto is high risk, and you could lose all the money you put in.
Risk warning: Crypto-assets such as bitcoin are high risk and speculative. Their value can go down as well as up, sometimes sharply, and you could lose all the money you put in. Past performance doesn't necessarily give a guide to the future. Some crypto products and services are unregulated, and even under MiCA crypto is not covered by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme or the Investor Compensation Scheme. Crypto isn't suitable for everyone, so only use money you can afford to lose.

Can you use Coinbase in Ireland?
Coinbase serves customers in the Republic of Ireland. Its payment pages include euro SEPA transfers and explicitly name Ireland among the countries where Easy Bank Transfer is available for adding cash.
You need to verify your Coinbase account before adding a payment method. The name on that payment method must match the name on your account. A listed payment option also has a particular purpose: a method that supports buying may not support adding cash or withdrawing it.
This guide uses the legal, register and help information as listed on 30 October 2026. Check the options and charges shown in your own account before making a transaction. The pages do not provide a single fixed Irish fee covering every way to use Coinbase.

Which Coinbase company serves Irish customers
The Coinbase brand covers separate legal companies. For an Irish customer, the distinction between crypto services and e-money services matters when reading an agreement or checking a register.
| Company | Regulator and reference | What it covers here |
|---|---|---|
| Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. | Luxembourg CSSF, N00000004 | Crypto services, passported to Ireland |
| Coinbase Ireland Limited | Central Bank of Ireland, C188493 | E-money services |
Coinbase says Irish customers moved to Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. on 23 October 2025. Its MiCA help page explains that this entity replaced Coinbase Europe Limited for crypto services. E-money services stayed with Coinbase Ireland Limited.
The updated terms use Luxembourg law for crypto services and Irish law for e-money services. Coinbase also says trades may be fulfilled outside an EU trading venue, including on Coinbase Exchange. The Luxembourg entity does not mean every trade takes place on an EU venue.
If you are reading older Coinbase paperwork, check the company named against the service it describes. The Irish e-money company still has a role, but its Central Bank authorisation should not be treated as the authorisation for your crypto services.
How Coinbase is regulated for Irish users
MiCA is the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. A crypto-asset service provider authorised in one EU country can serve customers in another through passporting.
As listed on 30 October 2026, Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. was authorised by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, or CSSF, on 20 June 2025. Coinbase's legal disclosure gives authorisation number N00000004. The ESMA interim MiCA register row includes IE among its notified countries, confirming Ireland is covered by passporting.
Check the legal name yourself
Open the ESMA interim MiCA register and find Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. Match the legal name and Luxembourg regulator, then check the notified countries for IE. Also look at the authorised services rather than relying on the brand alone.
For the e-money company, use the Central Bank of Ireland registers. Search for Coinbase Ireland Limited and match reference C188493. Keep the two checks separate: the Irish e-money entry and Luxembourg crypto authorisation describe different services.
Know the limits of authorisation
MiCA brings conduct and custody duties. It does not remove the risk of holding crypto, and it does not provide Deposit Guarantee Scheme or Investor Compensation Scheme cover for crypto. A regulated company may also offer products outside MiCA's protections.
Do not read an authorisation as a promise about returns or the safety of every product carrying the same brand. Our guide to MiCA in Ireland explains the rules and their limits in more detail.
Paying in and cashing out in euro
Coinbase's EU payment table distinguishes buying, selling, adding cash and cashing out. Read the column for the action you intend to take. These details are as listed on 30 October 2026.
SEPA bank transfers
SEPA Transfer supports buying, selling, adding cash and cashing out. Coinbase lists settlement of 1 to 3 business days.
If you are looking for a Coinbase IBAN in Ireland, Coinbase's payment pages we checked don't say that Irish customers get an Irish IBAN. Check the payment instructions displayed in your account.
Easy Bank Transfer
Easy Bank Transfer is listed for adding cash in Ireland, with settlement of 1 to 3 business days. The EU table does not list it for direct buying, selling or cashing out.
That distinction helps when planning a withdrawal. An option you used to fund the account is not necessarily available for taking euro back out. Check the cash-out choices separately.
Cards and other listed options
The EU table lists 3D Secure cards for buying and cashing out, with instant settlement. Adding cash by card is listed only for the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, so Ireland isn't on that list for card deposits.
Coinbase says it does not support transactions from prepaid, reloadable, secured or business cards. A supported card with 3D Secure enabled can be verified.
The EU table also lists PayPal for buying and cashing out, Apple Pay for buying and adding cash, and Google Pay for buying. PayPal transactions can face withdrawal holds. Coinbase says Apple Pay and Google Pay only appear when a Visa or Mastercard debit card is linked to your account.
Match names and check your bank
The payment method name must match your Coinbase account name. Coinbase says mismatches receive manual review in one to three business days. This review timing is separate from the settlement timing listed for a payment method.
Before withdrawing, check that your bank supports the currency. Coinbase warns that a bank may reject a payment or convert it at its own exchange rate. Returned funds may be reduced by bank wire fees. Do not assume the amount or timing shown for one method applies to another.
Coinbase fees: what the pages say
The fee disclosure warns that its charges do not apply in every region. The pages we checked don't give exact Irish percentages for ordinary buys. A percentage from a different product or region would not answer what your Irish transaction costs.
Simple buys, sells and conversions
Coinbase calculates fees when you place an order. Factors can include the payment method, order size, market conditions, location and asset. Similar transactions can have different fees.
Simple buy and sell quotes include a spread. Conversions also include a spread in the exchange rate. Coinbase says you can inspect it through the tooltip beside the asset price or quoted conversion rate in the preview.
Check the full preview before confirming, including the total you will pay and the amount you will receive. Looking only for a separate fee line can miss the spread included in the quoted price. Completed transaction details are also available in your transaction history.
Advanced and Coinbase One
Coinbase Advanced uses maker and taker fees instead. Coinbase's fee disclosure says Advanced has no included spread because you interact directly with the order book. We didn't find an Irish maker or taker percentage stated clearly enough to quote here.
Coinbase One is an optional paid subscription. Its zero trading fee benefit has limitations, and a spread can still apply to certain trades. The disclosure also says its zero trading fee benefit does not cover the limit order execution fee. Read those limits before treating a subscription as removing every cost.
Moving cash or crypto
Adding cash and cashing out may carry a charge depending on the payment method. Review the fee details before completing the transaction; the pages we checked don't say every Irish SEPA transfer is free.
For crypto sent off the platform, Coinbase charges based on its estimate of network fees. What Coinbase actually pays the network can be more or less than that estimate. Fees are disclosed at the time of the transaction.

Tax on Coinbase trades in Ireland
Revenue applies ordinary tax rules to crypto. For most people, gains on disposals fall under Capital Gains Tax. Activity amounting to a trade can fall under income tax rules instead. Selling, swapping and spending crypto can create disposals, so reporting is not limited to euro withdrawals.
Keep exchange and wallet records for six years, including the euro values used. Revenue says a return is required even where losses or the exemption mean no CGT is payable. Read the full Irish crypto tax guide and the steps for reporting to Revenue.
Under DAC8, providers have collected user and transaction information since 1 January 2026. The first reports, covering 2026, are due to Revenue by 31 May 2027. This changes reporting, not the tax rules. See DAC8 reporting in Ireland.
